Susong has a long history. It was established in the fourth year after Gaozu of Han Dynasty (184 B.C.), and was renamed Susong County in the 18th year of Emperor Kaihuang of Sui Dynasty (598 A.D.) and has been in use since then, with a history of more than 2,200 years. The cultural heritage of Susong is deep, is the birthplace of Huangmei opera, one of the four major local operas in China, folk opera Wennan words were included in the national intangible cultural heritage list; is the hometown of Chinese poetry, the emperors and literati have left many popular poems. It has the national 3A-level scenic spot "Yangtze River Island" and "Southern Little Great Wall" Baiyazhai.
